So what’s this all about?

A fairly good place to start if you are new to the site is my first post entitled Why No More Recipes.

If you’ve been here a little longer and are more interested in knowing about who I am, what the hell I’m playing at etc. then keep reading.

My name is Will Critchlow. I am an enthusiastic cook, a fanatic whisky lover (I sell whisky presents over at A Dram in Time), I play basketball with Euston Power in London and in my spare time I run a search marketing company called Distilled.

I am married to Heather, and she is probably going to contribute here as she knows about puddings and desserts (which I don’t). I’ll introduce her when she does.

I started this website because I wanted to make my cooking a bit more of a hobby. Like everyone, I cook to eat, but I also enjoy cooking and learning about cooking so I thought I would start a website where I could talk about it. This makes it a bit more real and gives me an excuse for playing with new things. I wanted a hobby so that I have something other than basketball to make me stop work when Heather’s out

So given that the day job is all about the internet, isn’t this just like that?

Well, not really, no. These days, I practically never actually make website changes myself and I certainly never administrate a site, run wordpress, edit code. So it’s very different. I expect it will help my work though – keeping up to date with all these kinds of things is important and in particular I have been learning a lot about running advertising in setting this all up.

At some point I might write a post about it. But it might be a bit introspective, techie and boring for many of you…
